Kay, damphy, etc. I am short, spunky and Texas born. I love everything from classic literature to comic books to Pokemon, and have been described as 'quirky' on more than one occasion. My hair really is purple, and has been various neon colors for roughly five years. I love to laugh, to swap stories and I adore Ellen's philosophy: Live, Laugh and Love.

I majored in English and have worked in comics and on reality television shows. I strive to genuinely be myself and have come to cherish both the good and the bad that brings. I have been a volunteer for deviantART since 2004 and did everything from moderating chat rooms to directing galleries.

In 2006, I joined staff as a member of CEA. I can most often be found in ur galleries, deleting ur porn, but I do sometimes appear with deviantART at conventions and model the occasional deviantWEAR item. I'm always excited to see where both life and dA will take me next.

Be good to each other!

Deviousness Award

Deviousness Award
`damphyr is one of those people who form an essential building-block of any community and we're especially grateful to have her in ours. Helpful to new deviants and old alike, she goes out of her way to find great art not only to highlight in her journal but also to suggest countless Daily Deviations to be put up as well. She's always ready with constructive criticism of the highest quality. While others moan about deviation violations, she does her deviant duty and reports them. Like any other great artist, she's never afraid to try new things for the sake of her art. For being not only a wonderful deviant but a wonderful artist as well, we recognize damphyr with our award for Deviousness for October 2004.

If you want to thank me for a llama, you don't need to. I'm glad you like it and you're very welcome! If you really want to thank me, llama me back. :aww:

There is no rhyme or reason that I gave you, specifically, a llama. You were the lucky random deviant who got one. You won the llama lottery, hurray!

If you hate llamas and I gave you one, then I'm sorry. :XD: I'm trying to spread happies and did not mean to upset you, but telling me you hate llamas is not going to accomplish anything but waste more of your time. :)

The great Pokemon X Y Debate

33 deviants said I do not play Pokemon.
30 deviants said I'm getting BOTH!
28 deviants said I'm getting X!
24 deviants said I'm getting Y!
22 deviants said STFU, damphy.

I still am not sure how it's the year 2014, much less three months into it! It's been a busy, crazy but good time. I have been Pokemonning and the book I've long been waiting for, the second in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, Words of Radiance just came out. I've had a very difficult time putting this book down, it will be over far too soon.

Speaking of far too soon, it's already time to start looking forward to the summer, when I will be all costumed out. Labyrinth Ball falls so close to Comic-Con and I always find myself scrambling to have costumes ready for both events. I've long been gathering materials and getting ready for these, but one particular piece for one of my costumes continues to elude me. I figured I would give a shout out to see if anyone well versed in ordering items like this may have a clue. It's a long shot, but hey, a girl can dream.

Buckle by damphyr

I am looking for something very close to this. A metal side release buckle with the little wing releases, not the push-in-the-sides kind. I know, it looks very similar to the plastic backpack/dog collar buckles that are cheap and everywhere... I am a crazy person and am not satisfied with those. I am after both metal and this kind of shape. Just to make things extra tricky, I really want these buckles in black or a very dark, brushed/not glossy metal, and most everywhere seems to want me to buy at least 500 of them. I need... three. :XD:

I've found some similar, but more complex and pricy ones made by Cobra, which I may resort to. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, my Google-fu has failed me, and you may be my only hope!

Anyone else working on costumes/cosplays? I may be considering attempting contacts this summer, for the first time. I've never been able to get them in before, so we'll see. :fear: I'm such a wuss when it comes to putting things in my eyes. I need to decide soonish, because I need to make an appointment with my optometrist if I decide to attempt it. What big costume/cosplay challenges have you faced?
