Artist's Comments

Hurray for colabs! :D
This is a drawing by =renonevada which he ever so kindly allowed me to color. I had so much fun with this, I completely lost track of time while working on it. There's nothing quite like coloring some very well done lineart... it's just so much fun. I usually like to work in blues, but every now and again I try to use the warmer end of the color wheel... and this gave me just such an excuse. I love how rich and warm it feels.

For some reason, she looks sad. I'm not sure why... I don't think she looks so sad in Reno's original: [link]

Anyway, hope you all enjoy it, was wonderfuly fun for me. And thank you again, Reno, for letting me color your great inkwork!

Lineart by
Colored in Photoshop on three layers: one layer for lineart, one for her colors, and one for the background.

Hope you all enjoy.

There's something magical that happens when two artists collaborate on a piece. And Beautiful Faerie by ^damphyr and =renonevada is one such piece. The elegant lineart penned by =renonevada simply buzzes with life accompanied by ^damphyr's soft, warm rendering of digital paint. (Featured by `mangapunksai)

The hair is a bit messy looking, but everything else is perfect. Especially the wings; you got the colors perfect. It looks kinda like she's in a cocoon.

 Looks great! Your coloring is really improving, too! The wings colors remind me of a sunset.

Thanks so much. Trying to do a more painterly approach, and I think it's helping. The wings were fun to do--gaah, it was all fun to do. Thank you thank you again for letting me color it. :D

This came out so lovely! I just adore the colors you chose. You're so right in saying that they're nice and warm. It's a lot of fun to work with warm colors. Somehow they're a little more calming than blues are... funny how that is.

Those wings are gorgeous. It seems like I could reach right in there and touch them. The blush in her skin (on her shoulders, face, the bottoms of her feet) is a nice touch. It gives her a glow. She does look a little sad. I can't seem to place why though. Her hair is perfect!

I think my favorite part of this is the background. I really love the faded and aged look of it. Did you use your own brushes for that? I still haven't figured out how to get the "paper-bag" faded look yet.

You guys make a great team. :)

I just used the 'wet media' brushes that come standard with Photoshop. Same brushes I used for the 'watery' background on my Digimon drawing... I'm still not sure how I got one to look like water and the other like a paper bag.
Thanks so much for the awesome comment.
