Ok, so I utterly love Chinese Dragons, they're so under luffed these days. So when ^pinguino asked me to take part in a charity book of dragon illustrations for a fellow artist who is battling cancer, I had just the image in mind.
Inked by hand with badly dying micron pens, cleaned up and colored in Photoshop. Far too much fun... especially with the background. It was a great time trying to merge a more realistic background with a highly stylized dragon and cloud set.
...I like his face. He's like "Rrrrar! I may be breathing a rainbow but I could still bite your head off!" I really wanted to do a water theme because dragons are almost always associated with fire, but in Chinese myth they often bring rain. Cool, neh?
I'll be selling a one-time signed print of this at Cape for the fund raiser, and will have the dragon book for sale as well. If you're good at drawing dragons and are willing to donate an illustration to help a fellow artist, please contact ^pinguino!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
