So yeah. Class yesterday was awesome but it left me an achy, moaning mess today. ...not to mention that my right arm is bruised and cut from back bone to elbow. Thank God for hot water and Epsom salts. A long hot soak with my home made bath salts made such a great difference. And being the geek I am I had to play my DS while in the tub.

So as soon as I dragged myself out of the bath and flopped down onto the couch, my brother walks in and announces, "I can smell you." Being female I started to get annoyed until he added, "You smell like lavender, nice!" He saved his own butt.

Last Tuesday I came home from Jujitsu with bleeding feet, today I come home with bleeding hands. The joys of the fight, neh? I've been trying to get myself ready, this weekend is a big seminar at my dojo which will hopefully end with me getting a stripe (a showing of rank) on my belt. Brazilian Jujitsu doesn't really do belt tests or trials--you go and when you are good enough, you're promoted. This weekend will be a good time for my sensei and his sensei to see me fight, I've been told that I should get at least one, possibly two stripes.

So, I'm wored out now and have a full agenda to get done today. But I have to share this! My mother and I were talking last night on IM's and I told her I had to go shave to get ready for Jujitsu. And she replied with "Go kick ass!" Funny thing to hear your mother say. So in her honor:

So as you all know, this past month has been insane. Getting ready for Free Comic Book Day takes ages and way too much effort, on top of that the new Moderation System launched, which meant getting used to a new way of working. Now my birthday is just around the corner, along with the birthdays of half my family, and I'm getting ready to get stripes in Jujitsu (it's a 'show your rank' thing).

With all this insanity I haven't done much commenting and my new deviations section is a huge mess. And I honestly feel... deprived. I've not seen the awesome work of people I adore, much less told them how much I adore their work.

So I'm going to be embarking on a quest to try and clean up my deviations and catch up on comments and all that good stuff. ...after work. And food.

First off, the ever-awesome $dionyziz is retiring (hopefully for just a while) from dA for some well-earned R&R. Go give him some love and thank him all his work on the current version of dA and... the next one.

Secondly... let me step back a moment and explain a bit about being on staff on dA. deviantART is a huge site, there are millions of people, and you're bound to know at least a few dozen of those people. And of those you're sure to be indifferent to most and to love a few and to really not be able to stomach a few. And yes, I am talking about people, not the art they produce. Just to clarify.

One of the first things I was taught upon joining CEA is that if you have strong feelings toward one person, do not handle them personally as you are sure to go overly hard or overly easy on them. If you consider them a good friend or if you just want to poke their eyes out with spoons and feed them to them, you hand the case off to another staff member. It is important that we remain fair and impartial to people. Now their actions, their submissions and their behavior on site needs to be what we react to. And so, if we feel as if we might be conflicted, we do not touch that particular case.

This is not an issue as all of us in CEA know each other pretty well and know what pushes our buttons and let's face it, we've all been put in a tough spot before and don't want a friend and co worker to go through that. I know it's the Internetz, but we really do take what we do seriously. Yes we have fun and goof off at times, but moderation is not a 'joke' to us. (Even though I know far too many people who will argue this is a lie--guess it's our word against theirs. Pick your side. )

$y2jenn has been put in a couple tough spots lately. Jenn is one of those bright, friendly, helpful people that you really do want to go to with your problems. Even if she can't 'fix' them, she is an awesome shoulder to cry on and her energy alone will get you through anything. She honestly cares, and let's face it, in this day and age, that's a pretty damn rare thing.

However, this makes her job suck sometimes. She honestly wants to help people--friends especially--but sometimes she can't. Regardless of what her thoughts are on a situation, she cannot get involved because it would be a conflict of interests. I can tell you for a fact that not being able to help and make things better tears her up inside. And... when she tells people this... the backlash is hate, anger and a sense of betrayal. After all--this is the Internets, right? Everyone should do whatever they can to help their cyber buddiez, right? But no, that's not the way we work.

So please, even if you don't know her from Adam, go give $y2jenn a bit of love. She really needs it and more than deserves it for the grief she's put up with recently.

Aaand, poor ^pinguino hurt her back again, and needs a (gentle) hug to get her through the aches.
