As I assume many of you figured out, due to the symbol change, I am no longer an employee of DeviantArt. First off: please don't worry or be upset! Leaving was my choice, and it was done with an amazing amount of support and the blessings of so many people. That said, it was also the hardest decision I've ever made.
DeviantArt has been my home and my family for fifteen years. It's been amazing to work alongside some of the most dedicated, creative, passionate people I've ever met, and it's been an honor to serve this community. I've watched communities, fandom, the Internet as a whole change in so many ways, I've learned so much about myself, about communities and fandom, and about humanity as a whole, and I've been given some amazing opportunities. I've traveled, I've given SDCC panels, I've made amazing friends, and I've got to sit down and have amazing, insightful, and meaningful conversations with deviants from all over, all walks of life, with all sorts of different goals. I even got to
guest star in an @
akreon comic! It's been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn't trade for anything.
But... time marches on, and for me, it's time to turn and face the strange. I've got some exciting things in my future, and I can't wait to share them with you all! More updates soon, I promise.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes, thank you all for so many years of memories, and thank you all for being deviants. I'm not going anywhere, I'll just be able to use DeviantArt in a way I've not been able to for more than a decade: as a normal deviant. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it.
