Wondercon!Saturday was a very fun day, when myself, IreneAdler76 and spotted wandered off to Wondercon Anaheim! I had not planned on going, and only realized I had a ticket and a ride on Thursday afternoon, so it was an unexpected pleasure. Fortunately, my Jack Harkness costume is so easy to throw together, I was still able to attend in costume, even if my hair was not terribly Jack-like.
Wandering Artists Alley was a blast, as always. I got to see lots of old friends and picked up a few snazzy pieces of art, too! I also left with a ton of inspiration, the cosplayers there were amazing, accurate and/or so original, I simply cannot wait to get started on my next costume. Thanks to everyone who said hi, asked for photos and/or stopped to let me take photos. Also, Capt Jack says a great big Hello~! to the 300+ people I streetpassed with my 3DS!
Here's some of my favorite pics of the con.
Buckles!I still am not sure how it's the year 2014, much less three months into it! It's been a busy, crazy but good time. I have been Pokemonning and the book I've long been waiting for, the second in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, Words of Radiance just came out. I've had a very difficult time putting this book down, it will be over far too soon.
Speaking of far too soon, it's already time to start looking forward to the summer, when I will be all costumed out. Labyrinth Ball falls so close to Comic-Con and I always find myself scrambling to have costumes ready for both events. I've long been gathering materials and getting ready for these, but one particular piece for one of my costumes continues to elude me. I figured I would give a shout out to see if anyone well versed in ordering items like this may have a clue. It's a long shot, but hey, a girl can dream.
I am looking for something
The Wind Rises! As you may or may not know, I am a huge Miyazaki fan. Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite movies ever, and Kiki's Delivery Service has been warming my heart since I discovered anime. I won't even mention Grave of the Fireflies, because I am literally unable to watch that movie again, it broke my heart so thoroughly. It is for this reason that I greet Miyazaki's retirement movie, The Wind Rises, with mixed feelings. I don't want him to stop making these gorgeous tales, animated in such a beautiful way, but I do believe Studio Ghibli can successfully carry on without him. I plan to brave the ehater with screaming kids (uuugh) to check out The Wind Rises, and I'm beyond giddy that dA is hosting a contest for it!
Check it out here!
How about you, do you have a favorite Miyazaki/Ghibli movie?
The Pokemon ObsessionWow. So, 2014 has come in like a lion. I won't go into details, but it's been a healthy mix of good and not so good.
...well! That didn't take long! You guys are amazing. BEHOLD!
BRB, life is made. If anyone is interested in trading Kyogre and/or Arceus for keeps, give me a shout. As for now? Life is good, and I can start farming shinies. Hurray for shinies!
One of the things to finally arrive? Pokemon Bank! ...That's a mixed bucket, as it turns out. The app is far from as useful, intuitive and user friendly as it could be, but hey, it gets the job of getting Pokemon from the old games into my new one done. Speaking of getting Pokemon into the new game... I am two Pokemon short from a perfect dex... and sadly one of them is holding me back from a Shiny Amulet/Shiny Charm. I need this. I really freaking need this. So, I'm on the hunt for two legendary Pokemon!
damphy is currently seeking: Kyogre
These last few weeks have been a whirlwind, but the end is near and I am so looking forward to Comikaze! Will anyone be attending? I will be roaming the halls on Saturday dressed as Captain Jack. If anyone spots the dashing hero, please do say hello! If you play Pokemon X or Y, be sure to say the secret password Sewer Chic and I will give you a rather lame Pokemon... but it comes with Pokerus so you can power level your EVs!
I hope everyone had a very happy Halloween and that November brings only good things.
Be good to each other!
The great Pokemon DebatePokemon has been a huge part of my life since the original Red and Blue games. My brother and I both begged, whined and pleaded until my parents (who are amazing!) got us each a copy for our giant brick of an original Game Boy system. I got blue, as you can probably guess from my journal skin.
Blue was fun, and I went the extra mile and beat the whole game over again in Yellow, falling for the gimmick of paying for the game all over again just to have Pikachu follow you around hook, line and sinker. Totally worth every penny, I should add.
But then... I fell away from the series, and I really can't give you a reason other than a combination of school and not liking the starter Pokemon. Pokemon was competing for my attention during college, when I was extremely short on both time and money, and against games such as Dragon Quest Monster, which just had a much bigger and more interesting breeding system... not to mention randomly generated dungeons! The DQM series
11 Years Today!I am so far behind! I have so many journals to write, so many stories to tell, so many pictures to share and so much to talk about! ...And I'm caught in that feedback loop of because I'm so behind, I'm putting off writing these things and because of that I'm getting even more behind. I'm so sorry, more will be coming soon, but I had something which I felt required a little post today.
Today is my 11th birthdAy. Eleven years haunting these green-gray walls, it seems crazy. It's amazing how much art and deviantART has influenced and changed the course of my life. I've seen so much amazing art, met interesting and mind-blowingly talented people and even crossed paths with a few of my heroes along the way. It's always an honor and an adventure to serve the deviantART community, and I'm so happy that dA is in my life.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this adventure, here's to eleven more!
SDCC... with a Dashing Hero like Me!In just a few more days I'll be heading off to San Diego for Comic-Con, and I am so excited I can't even with this!! Today gave me a taste of what is to come, because I got to take my cosplay for a trial run! aunjuli had a craft fair at Whimsic Alley here in LA, and I showed up in costume to help promote her Doctor Who teas. She took some amazing photos, check 'em out!
aunjuli will be in costume too, if you see either of us at SDCC, you should totally say hi. We may potentially have tea samples.
Also! I should mention that Aun-Juli is my hero. OMG I would love to meet John Barrowman and get photos while I'm in costume. I'm a nerd, I can't help it, guys. I'm ridiculously anxious to see if TeamBarrowman tweets back. A girl can dream.
So yes, the purple hair is on
San Diego Comic-Con!The excitement is building and time is running out!
I will be attending SDCC again this year, working Artists' Alley, as in the past few years. I'm so excited to get to hang with old friends and meet new, awesome artists and deviants. You can find me in dA's booth half the time, I'll be sure to put up when you can find me once I get my schedule. I will be cosplaying again this year during my off time. I'll have some teaser photos soon.
I also have the great honor of speaking on a panel this year! If you want to check it out, or have an interest in fan art, please come by! The Business of Fanart panel will be on Friday at noon in Room 2 Upper Level. I'll be speaking along side Artgerm, BrianKesinger and :devmakepitures:, as well as people from Baby Tattoo Books and Mighty Fine Inc, who make awesome t-shirts. You can find out more about the panel, our other panels and our general time at Comic-Con <b>

Days of Doodles
Mindful Meditation of Daily Drawing
Foreword by techgnotic
Gabriel Picolo is a graphic design student in Brazil who has provided at least two people—me and himself—a most compelling reason for getting out of bed every morning in 2014. He calls it the 365 Days of Doodles Project, for which he creates, each day, one of his wildly imaginative pencil sketch and ink drawings (quite a bit more elevated than a “doodle”—more like a free-flowing meditation).

You and IArtwork by agnes-cecile
I figured it out from black and white.
Seconds and hours.
Maybe they had to take some time.
I know how it goes from wrong and right.
Silence and sound.
Did they ever hold each other tight
Did they ever fight
We can make it 'til the end.
Nothing can come between
Not even the Gods above
Can separate the two of us.
I figured it out.
Saw the mistakes of up and down.
Meet in the middle.
There's always room for common ground.
I see what it's like for day and night.

To share what you loveHello everyone,
It's been such a long time since I've done a feature just for the heck of it, without any purpose whatsoever other than showcasing things I love. I've been so busy on here with young-photo-club, Death-Chicks, GetDailyDeviations, and my own Group Spotlight features that I haven't been able to do a feature of random things I've seen and adored here on DA! So here it goes!
